Applesauce
Homemade applesauce is easy, quick and yummy. Try this autumnal recipe! Applesauce is naturally sweet, has a velvety consistency and is filled with the cozy and rich aroma of apples. A warm applesauce breakfast bowl is a great alternative to a smoothie bowl in the autumn and winter months.

  1. Place the peeled, cored, and quartered apples into a large pot. Add water and orange juice to pot and bring to a boil over medium-high heat for 20' until apples are very tender.
  2. Allow to cool. Purée using a blender until smooth.

Select the right apples for the applesauce; use sweet apples.

Making homemade applesauce is a smart way to use the bruised, overripe apples. Recreate the applesauce recipe using the not-so-great apples and reduce your food waste!

You can substitute apple sauce for eggs in cake recipes (1/4 cup Applesauce = 1 Egg), in order to veganize your favorite cake!

Applesauce can be stored in a bowl, covered in the fridge for 3-4 days.

When boiling add your favorite spices; you can add 3-4 whole cloves or 1 cinnamon stick.

Applesauce goes well this raisins and nuts, and together they make the perfect fall/winter breakfast bowl!
